During his lecture in Belgrade, Lama Ole Nydahl explains how authentic Buddhism can be combined with everyday life and how one can benefit from the timeless wisdom of Buddhas teachings today.

Buddhism has its roots in the teachings of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni, who was born around 2560 years ago in Lumbini (Nepal). Since then, his teachings have been carried on until today and Buddhism is now accessible in a contemporary way in many countries around the world.

Buddhism works without a god and there are no commandments that one must follow in order to achieve a goal. It is allowed and recommended to question everything, that does not sound logical or that is not confirmed by modern sciences. This openness makes it easy to integrate Buddhist teachings and methods in every day life.

The goal of Buddha's teachings is the full development of our own potential and the experience of lasting happiness without being dependent on outer conditions. In this state of mind - the so called "Enlightenment" - one can manage all demands of every day life and one is able to support family, friends and society on the highest possible level.

Diamond Way Buddhism and the Karma Kagyu Lineage

Lama Ole Nydahl is one of the few Westerners who are fully qualified as a Lama and meditation teacher in the Tibetan Karma Kagyu Buddhist tradition. In 1972, after completing three years of intensive meditation training, Lama Ole began teaching Buddhism in Europe at the request of HH the 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, the spiritual head of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Since more than 900 years, the Karma Kagyu Lineage is known for passing on the authentic teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni in a fast and effective way, the so called "Diamond Way" (Tib. Vajrajana).

The "Diamond Way" teachings of the historic Buddha Shakyamuni are accesible in more than 600 lay Buddhist Centers and groups worldwide that are founded by Lama Ole and under the patronage of HH the 17. Karmapa Thaye Dorje, the spiritual head of the Karma Kagyu Lineage.
